Human rights are at stake. In Strasbourg, an application is pending – a case whose outcome may have far-reaching consequences. A single judgment can change a life, amend a law, or redirect public debate. This is where the documentary courtroom series begins: at a moment of uncertainty, when Europe’s highest judges deliberate on how fundamental rights should be interpreted.

Few places seem more unassuming – and yet more consequential – than a courtroom. In Strasbourg, decisions are taken that reach far beyond the individual case. But at the centre are people.

THAT’S RIGHT – THE COURT BATTLES THAT SHAPE OUR HUMAN RIGHTS follows those who believe their rights have been violated. What begins with a search, a ban, or a conviction becomes a long journey through legal appeals and legal arguments – and ultimately a case of European significance.

Through a dual perspective, the series unfolds between present and memory: an ongoing case develops in real time, while a previously decided case offers a retrospective view of what a judgment can set in motion. The result is a panorama of personal struggles and landmark decisions, revealing what remains of Europe’s fundamental rights when they are put to the test.
