Captain Mauro doesn’t know how long his family has been fishing for anchovies in the Adriatic. For generations, they have lived off the sea. Mauro and his crew are a close-knit community. They love their work. They love the Adriatic. But soon, their last voyage may be approaching…

NO FISH; NO MONEY is a love story. A story about the love of the sea and about a fishing crew who can rely on one another completely. Tenderly ironic and at the same time rough, the film portrays a culture that has evolved over centuries, defined by its sustainable relationship to nature and the fruits of the sea. Yet this culture is on the brink of disappearing. Anchovy stocks in the Adriatic are under threat. This means: NO FISH, NO MONEY— no future.

The film follows the crew of the anchovy fishing boat Antoni. One day at sea, one year in their lives. Humorous and matter-of-fact. Just like the fishermen themselves. A cinematic allegory about the inseparable connection between an intact natural world and human existence.
