They are the dream of many and a symbol of luxury – swimming pools. Emperors learned to swim in them. Film stars became icons in them. What stories do they have to tell? They started out as public swimming pools; later, the pool emerged- serving different functions. The film traces the arc from the idea of ​​bathing for reasons of hygiene to magnificent swimming pools and their significance in art and culture: an ironic and entertaining search for clues.

When the sun is shining and temperatures rise, we long to cool off. The swimming pool has been fulfilling this dream of cool water for decades. Man has managed to transform the sea into a mini-ocean, to confine it within a small pool, and to elevate it into the epitome of glamour and luxury.
