Cooking is the\u00a0starting point of these stories which shed light on the daily life\u00a0and social history behind today\u2019s regional political conflicts in\u00a0a caring-ironic way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The series\u2018 pilot \u201cSan Sebasti.n \u2013 Kitchen of dignity\u201c, produced\u00a0for the ORF, is completed and points out the narrative style:\u00a0The series focuses on strong personalities. Heroes of everyday\u00a0life who contribute to their region\u2019s culture and society in an\u00a0unconventional way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Each Episode of the TV-Series focusses on a specific element\u00a0that is connected to cooking and the background of the\u00a0regional conflict:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">In the Basque country, the so called gastronomic societies\u00a0were one of the few remaining places where the Basques\u00a0could defend their cultural identity during the Franco period. Today the region\u2019s cuisine is one of the best in the world.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">In Northern Ireland, the \u201eGood Friday Agreement\u201c would\u00a0never have been signed, if the negotiators had not gotten\u00a0anything decent to eat. One of the then negotiators, Gerry\u00a0Adams, put together a cookbook with the dishes that were\u00a0served during the negotiations.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">In Colombia, celebrity chef Juan Manuel Barrientos launched a reconciliation project inviting former FARC guerrilla fighters\u00a0and disabled soldiers to cook side by side. With his foundation\u00a0he wants to help build a dialogue between long-time enemies.\u00a0By cooking together.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">The elements of cooking and food manage to create a sense\u00a0of closeness to the protagonists, but do so without being\u00a0voyeuristic. The protagonists\u2019 biographies become the basis of\u00a0a historic and cultural review of the regional conflicts.
